Press Release
Kendall County Senior Needs Assessment Focus Group

San Antonio, March 13, 2007 - The Alamo Area Agency on Aging is currently developing a 2008-2010 Area Plan to address senior issues in the eleven-county Alamo region. In order to gain feedback from local communities, we are scheduling a focus group in each of the 11 counties to develop a senior needs assessment unique to that county. The focus group meeting for Kendall County has been scheduled for:

Thursday, April 5, 2007
9:00 a.m. - Noon

The Rainbow Senior Center & Foundation, Inc.

745 West San Antonio Street

Boerne, TX 78006

The discussion in the focus group will center on the following questions:

1. Is there an integrated array of health and social supports for older people in the local community?

2. Do older persons in the county have access to the needed supports to stay active and healthy?

3. Are families supported in their efforts to care for their loved ones at home and in the community?

4. Are there programs that assist older individuals in protecting their rights and preventing elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation?

The demographic profile for Kendall County showing the anticipated growth in the senior population until the year 2020 will be reviewed. Area residents are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.

Please RSVP to Julie Sakelakos at (210) 362-5260 or call 1-866-231-4922.
